Food For The Poor/HHHO Partnership Housing Project

In partnership with HHHO, Food for the Poor is building 50 houses and 10 wells in Aquin.  Each house has two bedrooms, a kitchen,a  porch, and a shower area.  The recipient families are families that HHHO has been working with for many years, teaching basic sanitation and hygiene and sponsoring the children in school.  Now for the first time, these familes have homes with tin roofs and cement floors.  Quite an improvement over dirt floors and thatched roofs.  The families helped with the construction, young and old alike.  You can see the pride and sense of accomplishment in their eyes.  Alex, one of the HHHO founders, said "these families can now live like respectable human beings instead of like animals."  Everyone is very grateful to the anonymous donor, Foor for the Poor, and HHHO for putting this project together and working with the community.  Not only did this project provide homes for 50 families, it also provided jobs for many Haitians.  HHHO has been helping the families pay for digging and gravel.   Costs for digging and gravel per home are $240.  If you would like to help the families with these costs, please click on the donate button below.

Update:  October 2010  The housing project is nearly complete.  There are only a few homes needing the final touches to be completed.  As soon as they are all complete, the families will start moving in!

Update:  November 2010  All the families have moved in to their new homes!  HHHO distributed housewarming gifts to all the families to help make their house a home.  The families are very grateful to everyone who donated to help make this project a success.
