In Aquin the main source of income comes from fishing and farming. The poorest of the poor live down by the sea. They may not eat everyday. The women will usually go to the fishermen and take his fish to market to sell. When they return the fishermen will either give them fish for supper or pay them for selling the fish. The fishermen can not go out to sea very far because of the kind of boats they have. It takes three people in the boat to fish. One to bail the water, one to take care of the sail made out of garbage bags and one to work the nets. The fish they catch are very small.
Farming in Aquin is also very difficult. The land is very rocky and hard to plow. They plow with oxen and cultivate with hand made hoes. The farmers grow tomatoes, eggplant, pumpkins, corn, onions, carrots, peppers, cabbage, bananas, palatines, and mango trees.
